ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey made it clear that she does not expect the upcoming sixth season of S.H.I.E.L.D.as its last, but she would like to launch another Marvel series on the broadcast network.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, ABC’s only Marvel series, is heading into its sixth season premiering in 2019. The new season will only run for 13 episodes, down from the regular 22-episode seasons. With Agent Carter and Inhumans gone, there will be no Marvel series on ABC during the 2018-19 broadcast season schedule for the first time since the launch of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Channing Dungey revealed talks are currently ongoing with Marvel to develop a potentially new show. However, beyond saying the project is exciting, Dungey did not provide any further details about what the series would entail. “In terms of Marvel, we have some things that we are in discussions with them right now that we are in development,” Dungey said. “I’m very excited about it.”
