Batman Vs Superman Review

Genre-Action/Si,fi

Cast- Henry Cavell, Ben Affleck

Director – Zack Snyder

So Superman Vs Batman has finally hit theaters. The much awaited film that showed its first glimpse at comic con 2014 is finally here. The small teaser shown at the Con had sent the entire world into a tizzy, as the maverick Zack Snyder who gave us the epic 300 and the superman reboot  was wielding the microphone. I couldn’t hold my excitement I purchased the preview ticket and sat in the auditorium like a 5 year old child glued and wide eyed. The first 20 minutes were over. My mind says “hmm, it will get more interesting ,HOLD ON” . The next 20 minutes were over, my mind says “ patience’s wait for it. Now it will pick up”. Finally the first half(In India we run films in 2 half’s ) was over, I was wondering if I had come to see an action extravaganza or a sad sulky movie about a depressed super hero and another complexed super hero . I said to my self “maybe I am watching the wrong film” nope this was the film. Zack Snyder’s Superman vs  Batman is by far one of the most boring event films made. The entire Nolan realism to a super hero is highly passé, look back at Nolan’s Batman trilogy today and you will realize how ridiculous some portions are. Guys it’s a popcorn entertainer treat it that way. No one  wants to see a realistic side to a comic, that’s ridiculous. The story written by   Davis S. Goyer and Chris Terro  (David has written the dark night trilogy) the film looks like a leaf of a 1980 Bollywood film. In short a super hero , who is a crowd pleaser now has one sect of the public hating him. The crowd pleaser is hurt and upset that 10 people hate him and wants to find ways to please them. On the other side A billionaire vigilante /wanna be superhero feels the pleaser is a threat to society and wants to find a way to eradicate the pleaser. Enter the criminal master mind, mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the smartest of them all, Lex Luther is dummy. He’s so smart that he plays the billionaire extremely tech savvy Batman against the (GOD) brilliant man of steel. The 2 battle it out to realize “ wait a minute, its lex who’s behind this” but Lex being the smarter one  now recycles General Zod’s body to make him an un killable ungly as hell monster .The man of steel, the Bat vigilante and wonder women(yup she’s there too) fight the ugly monster , can the trio beat it or will it consume them. The screenplay is extremely boring with no breaks of entertainment at all. Zack snyder’s direction is top notch and he makes a crappy screenplay looks visually enticing, its safe to say he is on his way to become the next James Cameron. The film is shot extremely well by Larry Fong. Coming to the action. Stunt Coordinator Tim Rigby (300 fame) manages to pull a good team together, the fights of Batman are particularly well choreographer , two fists of for Guillermo Grispo and  Ryan Watson who have done a good job. The animation and visual effects are top notch. Coming to the performances Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck are fantastic in their parts ,the look every bit the super hero. Gal Gadot makes a smashing debut as wonder women , her enter is the high light of the film. Amy Adams Is her self. A special mention to Jesse Eisenberg he was extremely entertaining as Luther. The rest of the cast were all good in their roles.

Final word

On the whole BVS is entertaining in parts , only cause of larger than life effects and action. The weak screenplay is a major let down and that’s what causes the lack of entertainment. Go catch it once for the larger than life action.
