Charlie’s Angel is one IP that has been around for over 40 years. It Debuted in the 70’s and kept reinventing it’s self. The last people to portray the angels were Drew Barrymore, Lucy liu and Cameron Diaz. The film did exceptionally well and made a ton of money however for the longest time there was no news on the reboot. Well now their is.
Naomi Scott, who stars as Jasmine in Disney’s upcoming Aladdinremake, and British newcomer Ella Balinska are set to join Kristen Stewart in the studio’s new Charlie’s Angels reboot to be distributed by Sony.
Actor director Elizabeth Banks has placed her self in a very special role . She will play Bosley, the face of the enigmatic and never-seen owner of the detective agency, Charlie Townsend.
The new story takes the detective agency premise of the original 1976-1981 TV series and 2000 and 2003 movies global, with the Townsend Agency now a worldwide security and intelligence service that has teams around the world. The movie will focus on one of those teams and the next generation of Angels and the new skills to get the job done.
Banks said to a tabloid that Charlie’s Angels, for her, was one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the ’70s. She said The film honors the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels.
The new project has Banks’ involved in all departments. In addition to being in front and behind the camera, Banks wrote the latest draft of the script with Jay Basu.
Sony has set a date to open the film in September 2019.
