Box Office Verdict of Force 2

Everyone asked me why I was mum on the Box Office verdict of Force 2. Well the answer is because people are extremely keen to write a movie off in the second day of it’s release. Everyone has now become a trade pundit and the what’s app message are out before the end of the first screening. This negative approach towards a Product has caused me from putting my thought’s out at the very end.

First things first’s it’s commendable of the Star Producer Mr John Abraham to revive a franchise that didn’t perform great in it’s first outing. He took on the onus of producing it along with Viacom 18. Let’s all understand that Force 2 is a film in the space of an espionage thriller, not many have attempted the genre and even fewer are successful in the Hindi film industry.  Though the promo’s showed song’s none featured in the film. ( barring a Parra of one song)The music was hummable , however the music was not a chat buster and to top it all 1 week before the release the country was hit by demonetization of higher currencies.

An out an Out action film earns it’s early opening big number’s for early Show’s from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and mainly in CAT B & C  Halls, however those numbers were not achieved to it’s total capacity because all sales happen in cash and since disposable cash was not available to the cine goer’s at these centers the number’s were effected in a big way. Just like cricket an early Start with big numbers can give a great projection on the day’s collections , early big numbers can mean a big first day Force 2 opened between 15-20% people kept saying it was bad, but Rock on 2 that opened a week earlier , that was primarily a Metro city film with it’s core audience being multiplex goers opened to a dismissal 5% and Rock On was a much bigger franchise than Force if compared on Box Office Collections.  However everyone seem’s to only have their guns aimed at Force 2 beat’s me.

The actual budget of Force is about 40 Cr INR including the  DCP , Advertising and marketing cost. They recouped almost 50% of the cost from the first window (RS 18 Cr) They recouped almost 5 crs from music , they recouped another 2 crs from digital and they recouped another 4 crs from Offshore making it a total of 27 crs . This Does not include any ancillary sales ( Merchandise and inflight entertainment) The film had a balance 13 crs to recover from the theatrical ticket sales. And to do that it needed to do a business of 26 crs INR , The film Stands at 34 crs domestic as on date and 13 crs International , making the worldwide box office of 47 crs . It has passed it target by 80 % as on date.  The Films has been distributed by Viacom 18 all across India so there is no question of DL’s (distributor Losses)

As on Date the film should have made a profit of 25% Gross.

What worked for Force 2  was the genre and the Star Power. Action I the biggest Genre with the most Loyal fan following globally and this analysis proves it. Even though there were so many hiccups before the release and the action being average at best it still sailed through. Secondly John Abraham was grown his fan base with his Action Hero Avatar to double from the start of the year. We were the first to report and now everyone is saying it he is a major action star and a FORCE to recon with.

We at amdb.in request all the so called “Trade Experts” to get facts analysis it before declaring a film a flop.

We at amdb.in wish the entire team of Force 2 all the best and a hearty congratulation.
