After the success of the Raid redemption a lot of things changed for smaller Asian country’s film industries , Malaysia started putting together a bunch of Action films that did decently well both on and off shore and a few more countries followed too. The latest to be added to the list is the Philippines with Buybust.
Filipino director Erik Matti (Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles) brings to you Buy bust. The movie tells the story of cop who finds herself trapped inside a dangerous slum area in Manila after a poorly planned buy-bust operation goes awry .
The project will star American-Filipino MMA sensation, Brandon Vera (Kamandag), and Filipino-Australian actress, Anne Curtis.
Though made on a modest budget of 1 million USD the film has managed to raise international awareness. It is said to feature in this years New york Asian film festival and will have a limited release in the United States on the 15th of August.
It must be noted here that films made on such tiny budgets rarely get a release but Action is the only genre where low budget films always manage to see and recoup their investment.
