Brett Ratner and James Packer formed RatpacDune is all set to sell it’s Library for a whopping 350 million dollars. The company that was formed to co finance Warners Action film tent pole slate is all set to sell and boy has it got it’s price.
Vine Alternative Investments, which last year bought a controlling interest in Village Roadshow and acquired the Manchester Film Library is all set to outbid Warner Bros who had the first right of refusal to the Library. Warner went upto 250 million however fell short by a 100 million dollars.
Though the Library has 70 plus films with a 15 to 40 percent IP depending on the films the greatest value was drawn from it’s Action films like Wonder Woman, Batman V Superman, Creed, Godzilla, American Sniper and Mad Max: Fury Road and rampage.
Multiple people bid cause most of the tentpoles are still evolving and that makes for a lot of scope for sequels and merchandising.
Since the venture was a JV it made sense to exit at the right time . Our sources tell us the Multiple banks are ready to back the buyers as they feel the investment is sound with a very low risk factor.
Warner has found another slate partner in BRON Studios to co-finance six films including the new Clint Eastwood release The Mule.
RatPac-Dune Entertainment LLC was formed in September 2013 by RatPac and Dune with a four-year, 75 motion picture co-financing arrangement with Warner Bros...
However post it’s controversy Warner severed it’s ties .
The total box office collections of their slate is close to 6 billion dollars and they have 15 % to 25% IP at an average investment of 15 % on an average budget of a 50 million dollars and a box office payout of 15 % they have earned close to 900 million on a 500 million investment give or take and that is only from the first window recovery.
It’s a huge payout for Ratpac dune. where each person would make close to 250 million dollars each at a bare minimum.
