For years Chinese Action films have been selling as a Staple diet in all film festivals globally. There’s a monster appetite for Chinese Action films especially in the Wu XIa genre .
These films are a money spinner and that is the reason why HBO has decided to make these films in house.
China Movie Channel and HBO Asia announced their new co-produced of martial arts films . The films for now are “Master of the White Crane Fist: Wong Yan-Lam” and “Master of the Nine Dragon Fist: Wong Ching-Ho” – will debut early next year on both networks and on HBO OTT.
The two films are the latest installments in China Movie Channel’s martial-arts movie series in partnership with HBO Asia.
The two giants had previously cooperated on, “Master of the Drunken Fist: Beggar So” and “Master of the Shadow-less Kick: Wong Kei-Ying”.
Both films had a robust presale that covered their low cost and won excellent TRP on both networks . The model has worked and that is why the other 2 films have been greenlite.
Master of the White Crane Fist: Wong Yan-Lam which is directed by Guo Jianyong lls how kung fu master Wong disguises himself and cracks down on an opium-trafficking gang.
The idea for setting these films is to showcase Wu xia and sell Action films for what the are not takingbig stars and big budgets .
