<\/p>\nMarvel has it’s cinematic universe, DC has it’s and recently recently Universal has announced it’s . Universal’s Dark Universe . The first of the franchise is \u00a0The Mummy Reboot Starring Tom Cruise , the film had gained a lot of attention when Tom jumped on board. Finally in theaters will the film live up to the hype. Let’s Find out.<\/p>\n
To Start with the predecessors Starring Brandon Fraser did extremely well at the box office . They were fun films and though it had it’s share of scary moments , most of them were child like and in the fun space. The reboot seems to be a lot more graphic then it’s predecessor. The Film Starts off with Nick Morton \u00a0a soldier \u00a0who plunders ancient sites for timeless artifacts and sells them to the highest bidder.<\/p>\n
Nick and his partner come under attack in the Middle East, the ensuing battle accidentally unearths Ahmanet, a betrayed Egyptian princess who was entombed under the desert for thousands of years. With her powers constantly evolving, Morton must now stop the resurrected monster by any means possible.<\/p>\n
The film is a set up for the core of the Dark Universe. While the thought of ” you need a monster, to defeat a monster” Sounds great ,The film falters on it’s screenplay level . It tries too hard to be believable and just when you think it goes towards that direction it swings in the exact opposite direction. What works in marvel and DC is that though they are hyper real worlds the conflicts are between the specimens of the same kind. \u00a0That’s lacking in the mummy. Its a confusing emotion of viewership .<\/p>\n
Director Alex Kurtzmen holds the film together and has kept it pacey so to take away from the flaws of the film. A valiant effort. \u00a0Though he has written block busters like Transformers and Mission Impossible he seems to be in a slightly lost space of narrative in the mummy when it comes to the Screenplay.<\/p>\n
Stunt Department Co coordinator Suzie Williams \u00a0has managed to put together a decent team with Legendary Action Guru Vic Armstrong’s Son Scott handling second Unit. The Action is larger than life and that’s the primary thing one looks for in a Tom Cruise film. \u00a0Every sequence is different from the other and that makes for a very enjoyable watch.<\/p>\n
Coming to the performances , the film belongs to Tom Cruise. There’s a reason why he’s such a monster star and a major action . The ease with which he does the most complex sequence \u00a0makes \u00a0even the most un believable scenes believable. He’s as agile as he was in Top gun and he has not aged a day since. Tom is the primary reason why one should watch this Movie, he’s simply phenomenal. He knows how to make massive sequences and execute them. Sofia Boutella who plays the title role plays her part to perfection she’s excellent and a true talent to watch for. \u00a0Annabelle Wallis is lovely and provides the right does of being a catalyst to Tom Cruise . I see their track going a long way. There’s a special Surprise in the film which i do not want to spoil but the surprise could be the first extension of \u00a0the dark universe. The Surprise is fantastic as always.<\/p>\n
On the whole the Mummy reboot is just about an Average watch . Do go see it as it’s your best value for money this week . There’s no way one can compare it to an avengers but under Donna Langley’s leadership i am sure it will find a space for it’s self.<\/p>\n
