More than a month after its initial release date, the film isn\u2019t slowing down\u2014in fact, it\u2019s officially shaping up to be the highest-grossing film of the summer, and the second highest-grossing film of the year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/deadline.com\/2017\/07\/wonder-woman-guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-2-summer-box-office-1202130866\/\">Deadline<\/a>\u00a0reports that\u00a0<strong>Wonder Woman<\/strong>\u00a0is set to surpass\u00a0<strong>Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2\u00a0<\/strong>this weekend when its domestic box office flies up to $387 million.<\/p>\n<p>That makes \u00a0<strong>Wonder Woman<\/strong> the fourth-biggest DC Comics movie ever, in terms of ticket sales, behind\u00a0<strong>Superman: The Movie,\u00a0The Dark Knight Rises,\u00a0Batman\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>The Dark Knight. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An interesting analysis has been reported in CBR.com, that typically, superhero film audiences are dominated by male moviegoers; but with\u00a0<strong>Wonder Woman<\/strong>\u00a0there was an equal number of female viewers to\u00a0male ones over it\u2019s first three weeks. That&#8217;s a huge deal. \u00a0The number of aged 50+ female audience members also went up over the film\u2019s first few weeks by more than 20% than is typical\u00a0for this type of film.<\/p>\n<p>This really tells us that women have buying power on par with men when it comes to tentpole films, and it looks like, when targeted correctly, they will use said power. Film studios\u00a0now have to throw out their excuse that female-led films tend to flop at the box office.
