The young adult sci-fi flick will be turned into a TV series. Based on Veronica Roth\u2019s bestselling books, <strong>Divergent<\/strong> is set in a futuristic society where people are broken up into social and personality-related factions.<\/p>\n<p>Lionsgate&#8217;s subsidiary, Starz, has Adam Cozad and Lee Krieger on board to executive produce, write and direct the new <strong>Ascendant<\/strong> series. The story follows the film series that is set in the future dystopia where the city of Chicago&#8217;s walled-in five-faction autocracy is governed according to the personalities of the population&#8217;s young adults. Tris Prior \u00a0is a young woman whose status as a divergent is regarded as a threat against the system, setting her on a dangerous journey fighting against the actions of a powerful and corrupt bureau responsible for genetic manipulation.<\/p>\n<p>Divergent was a big hit in 2014, but the following sequels didn&#8217;t do as well. It was supposed to be a four-film series but the downward trend at the box office for the second film led to shelving the third one in favour of turning it into a TV series.<\/p>\n<p>The cast of the new series has yet to be decided.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Disclaimer-<\/strong> The reviewer is well respected as an Action connoisseur in global action communities.
