Already part of 3 Major Franchises Jason Statham ( Transporter, Mechanic and The Expendables ) is now set to launch his fourth Franchise with STX Entertainment and\u00a0 China’s Tencent Picture\u00a0to co-develop an action film targeting the Chinese film market.<\/p>\n

Statham will produce and star in the project.\u00a0The deal is an extension of Statham’s ongoing courtship of the growing Chinese film market. As Statham Mechanic 2 performed exceptionally there.<\/p>\n

He next can be seen in the Chinese co-produced creature feature\u00a0Meg<\/em><\/a>, from Beijing-based Gravity Pictures and Warner Bros.’ Chinese joint venture Flagship Entertainment. Statham toplines the film opposite Chinese actress Fan Binging, playing a former Naval captain recruited to undertake a deep-sea mission to rescue scientists under attack from a 70-foot Pre Historic Shark.<\/p>\n

Statham-led project is a natural next step for STX, which is coming off the 2017 success of Chinese co-production\u00a0The Foreigner<\/em>, starring Jackie Chan. The film earned $141 million worldwide from a production budget of $35 million.<\/p>\n
