Due to his actions, both terrorist suspects avoid being shot by\u00a0<a title=\"Counter Terrorist Specialist Firearms Officer\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Counter_Terrorist_Specialist_Firearms_Officer\">CTSFOs<\/a>, enabling them to be arrested by\u00a0<a title=\"Counter Terrorism Command\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Counter_Terrorism_Command\">Counter Terrorism Command<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>His heroism results in his promotion to serve on the detail of Julia Montague, the\u00a0<a title=\"Home Secretary\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Home_Secretary\">Home Secretary<\/a>. There is tension between the two, with Montague&#8217;s steadfast support of the\u00a0<a title=\"Iraq War\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Iraq_War\">Iraq War<\/a>and\u00a0<a title=\"War in Afghanistan\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/War_in_Afghanistan\">War in Afghanistan<\/a>\u00a0and plans to infringe on\u00a0<a title=\"Civil liberties\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Civil_liberties\">civil liberties<\/a>\u00a0by updating\u00a0<a title=\"Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Regulation_of_Investigatory_Powers_Act_2000\">RIPA<\/a>\u00a0contrasting with Budd&#8217;s experience as a soldier. Montague fires her adviser Chanel Dyson, who then tries but fails to blacken her reputation to the press.
