However Alan Horn the genius behind the super success of Disney acquired Marvel as a subsidiary of Disney for close to 4 billion usd. A while earlier he had acquired Pixar from Steve Jobs for close to 7 billion usd. Everyone thought horn was mad as the numbers were exorbitant but Horn Understood the big future. And marvel since has been delivering close to a billion plus each year only on BOR’s.
Disney also Own’s Lucas Studio’s and the Starwar’s Reboot saw a billion dollars coming in last year.
Disney has beaten every major studio to cross the 5 billion world wide mark. And they still have the Starwar’s reboot opening in a week. It’s safe to say that Disney will end the year with 6.5 billion plus GBR’s making it the number 1 studio to ever do that.
Universal did it last year with 2 billion dollar franchise’s Furious 7 and Jurassic World being front runners. However Disney has taken it to another level this year.
The biggest earners are tentpole’s and animations
Leading the pact is Civil war, the come’s Finding Dory, the Zootopia, then the Jungle book, and finally doctor Strange.
This solidifies the reach of the action genre.
It’s been a massive year for Disney and from the trailers of the coming attractions of the studio it looks like a massive next year too
