Sony Pictures is on a roll , the studio that most recently tasted the One Billion mark at the Box office wants to keep it’s good luck running at the box office. Keeping with their already interesting slate of Action films Sony has decided to expand their Acquisition Slate.
At the recently concluded American Film market Sony has Acquired the world wide rights to Anna Kendrick ‘s SIFI Action thriller Stowaway .
Sony has taken rights in UK/Ire, Australia/NZ, Latin America, Eastern Europe, most of Asia and South Africa. Additional territories sold include the Middle East to Falcon Films, Benelux to Dutch Film Works (DFW), Russia to Volga. The Prime territories have been acquired and Sony pressing producers XYZ films to give them spill over territories.
The plot is about A crew of a spaceship headed to Mars discovers an accidental stowaway shortly after takeoff. Too far from Earth to turn back and with resources quickly dwindling, the ship’s medical researcher (Kendrick) emerges as the only dissenting voice against the group consensus that has already decided in favor of a grim outcome.
The film gives the feel of A Alien Covenant which did very well at the box office.
The film is directed by Joe Penna and is written by Ryan Morrison . Currently the film is in pre production and is all set to shoot in May next year.
