John Woo and Van Damme created a new wave of action cinema with the cult Hard Target. Woo who made his Hollywood debut with Hard Target and soon became the toast of Hollywood Action cinema. Woo ushered in a new era thanks to Hard Target. 23 years later the franchise is relaunched with Scott Adkins reprising the title role. The film is a highly down graded version of the original with zero production value. Hard target was a pioneer at its time with war games being a USP of the time. However in 23 years multiple films on the similar track have been produced and with each production the scale has gone lower and lower. Hard Target 2 unfortunately comes at the fag end of the already extent storyline .Adkins reprises his favorite role as an MMA fighter (isn’t he getting bored of playing the same role) who’s chosen for a life or death game of human hunting. The film is directed by roel reine and is stated for a September release start to DVD and other HEP Platforms. The trailer is extremely ordinary and the action is pretty similar to other Adkin films such as the recently released close range. Adkins is a bundle of talent who hasn’t been exploited to his full potential. With the right script and director he can easily be in the next “big” action Star.
