From being an animation series that did exceptionally well the show made the jump to live action Thanks to the technological advances in cinema.
Produced by Hasbro and Paramount Pictures G I Joe Rise of the Cobra and G I Joe Retaliation both did well on the Box office. However Fans who are eagerly awaiting the third installment willbe sad to know that Hasbro has offically announced it’s cancellation.
According to Hasbro global brand licensing boss Simon Waters, “the world has changed, and I think you’re going to see G.I. Joe changing with it. There’s going to be a much more contemporary approach to the whole franchise, and that will allow us to develop different characters”.
The Franchise is in for a reboot, while one might contemplate why this decision we might have the answer. Transformers the last knight fared badly at the box office and is facing a major franchise fatigue . We feel Hasbro felt that GI Joe was going down the same route , with it’s declining merchandise and toy sales Hasbro must have felt it’s best for them and Paramount ( who it’s self has gone through a major change with Studio head Brad Grey passing away ) to reboot both Franchises.
We feel this is a smart move and a cross between both will be a major draw at the Box office. Everyone has their Shared Universe be it Disney or Warner so why not paramount?
