A whole Bunch of Films opened on the the 12th of Feb Globally. In India Specially south India It’s one of the biggest festivals Pongal on on the occasion of Pongal 2 Major films opened in the Andra Region.
Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyathavaasi and Bala Krishna’s Jai Simha. Kalyan’s Agnyathavaasi has taken a massive opening with 25 plus crs coming in on day 1 , the film is trending towards a 67 crs weekend first frame. World wide the film looks to do a 120 crs first weekend which is fantastic considering the word of mouth is not great.
On the Other Hand Jai Simha is said to be the winner this Pongal season at the box office. The film took a decent start at the box office on the day one. The film has collected a distributor share of 6.84 cr on it’s opening day. Gautamiputra Satakarni that released last year collected 9.76 Cr on day one.
The film Jai Simha collected a distribution share of 1.07C, 1.46C, 0.72C, 1.11C, 0.85C, 0.81C, 0.46C, 0.36C in Nizam, Ceded, UA, Guntur, East, West, Krishna and Nellore areas respectively. The film is trending well and the numbers look to sustain well.
Coming to the Tamil Side Vikram’s Sketch is set to taking in a modest 6 crs day 1 and is looking to end the week with a 18 crs first Frame. The reason for the low numbers are that too many big films opened on the same day.
Tiger Zinda Hai has managed to put up fantastic numbers and is on it’s way to a life time business of 335 crs. It’s one of the 5 films to enter the 300 cr club .
On the international front Liam Neeson ‘s The commuter is holding to a 5 million day one and is trending towards a 17 million first frame.
Proud Mary is a tad disappointing and the reason for that is manly the casting. Taraji is just not cut out for action. The film opened to a 3 million friday and is looking to end the week on a 9 million first frame as numbers seem to be static on this one.
