John Cena is reportedly set to replace Sylvester Stallone in an action-thriller working title Project X . The 16 time WWE world champion will star alongside Jackie Chan.
Chan will also produce the film, with a team of Joe Tam, Esmond Ren and Hans Canosa. Arash Amel has written the screenplay. The Need for Speed director, Scott Waugh is at the helm of this film. The story is set on a Chinese oil refinery in the Middle East that has come under attack. The new movie will see Chan playing a security contractor called in to rescue a group of oil refinery workers trapped in the aftermath of a terrorist attack. Cena will play a Marine-turned-teacher who leaves his job at an orphanage in Iraq to help Chan get oil workers out of danger.
Recently, Cena is becoming a reliable go-to action star. He will next be seen in the Transformers‘ spinoff Bumblebee and Universal’s The Jason Directive, which will be produced by Dwayne Johnson. Chan was last seen stateside in STX’s Chinese co-production The Foreigner and is attached to a fourth Rush Hour and a Shanghai Noon sequel.
We at amdb.in wish the entire team all the very best.
