In the Last 2 weeks 2 major Action films have opened at the box office, Skyscraper and The Equalizer 2 it was exactly on the the 3rd of July that our analytics algorithm Trend Track gave out box office predictions on both films 35 million first frame for Equalizer 2 and Three days ago when we reviewed skyscraper we gave out the golden figure of 50 million for it’s China Debut were we accurate lets find out.
We are proud to say that the Equalizer 2 surpassed the 35 million mark and did a business of 35.8 million first frame . Every other analytics had the film in the high 20’s trend track is the only algorithm that had it to the highest number it could do at the box office. The film beat mama mia for the number 1 spot taking our accuracy rate even higher.
For director Antoinie Fuqua, Equalizer 2 is the highest opening of his career besting The Magnificent Seven ($34.7M). For Washington, the sequel is his third best domestic start after American Gangster ($43.5M) and safe house at 39.8 million.
Coming to the second film Skyscraper the film opened in the middle kingdom to a $48.9 million first frame. Though the film under performed by 1.1 million it still out did all the other analytics sites by a significant margin most of them had the film in the high 30’s once again trend track proved it’s accuracy on BO predictions.
Skyscraper” has till date done a business of $179.6 million globally . It opened to the number one spot in Colombia with $1.5 million, India underperformed with $1.4 million, and Peru with $900,000. It saw strong holdovers in Mexico $1.7 million, Korea $1.4 million, Russia $1.4 million, and Malaysia $1.2 million.
