Atomic Blonde proved to the world once again that Charlize Theron is one of the best people in the business to do Action and her chops have not only landed her the Sequel of the said film but also another graphic novel adaptation that will roll sooner than expected.
Netflix has acquired the rights to Gina Prince-Bythewood’s female-led action film The Old Guard, which is based on the comic book series by Greg Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernández.
The Old Guard tells the story of a small covert group of immortal mercenaries who must fight to keep their team together when they discover the existence of a new immortal and their extraordinary abilities are exposed and that threatens the existence of the Old Guard.
The film is produced by Action film enthusiast and producer of Terminator and Top Gun David Ellison along with streaming giants Netflix.
The book has been written by Greg Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernández and has found a strong fan following among graphic novel readers.
Prince-Bythewood’s directorial credits include The Secret Life of Bees but has been a top contender for the role to direct the actioner.
What’s amazing is the number of female Action film directors who are making their mark in making hard core action films.
