Mark Wahlberg will star opposite Tom Holland in Sony Pictures’ Uncharted, the long-in-the-works film adaptation of the bestselling PlayStation action-adventure video game
Holland officially is aboard to co star in the movie, which moved forward in September when Travis Knight came on to direct. A production start is being eyed for next year some time around march.
The Uncharted series is set in the real world, in a number of different time periods. In Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, the game is set off the coast of Panama, in the Amazon rainforest, and an uncharted island off the coast of South America.
The script from Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum & Matt Holloway centers on Nathan Drake (Holland) a young man, as he grows into the treasure hunter. Wahlberg would play Drake’s mentor Sully
The film is the first feature production of Sony’s PlayStation Productions, which was set up on the lot last year by Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.
The film is being produced by Ex Marvel Boss Avi Arad. Knight, who directed the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee is in great demand to direct the film.
Wahlberg who’s getting back into shape for his next with Antoine Fuqua is all set to take young Holland to Action School.
