The On going Cannes film festival has seen a huge sale in Action films this year. Due to the ongoing Pandemic Exhibitors needs the most assured content to get people into theaters and that is only Action.
The latest film to be presented is Action film Super Star Gerard Butler . Butler who was once the toast of Hollywood post the success of 300 soon saw a sharp decline in films and popularity when his films weren’t accepted.
However post the Fallen franchise Butler has etched his place in the 30 to 50 million COst of production range films in LA LA LAND.
His latest offering is Kandahar. Butler will play Tom Harris, an undercover CIA operative working in the Middle East. An intelligence leak dangerously exposes his classified mission and reveals his covert identity.
Stuck in the heart of hostile territory, Harris and his translator must fight their way out of the desert to an extraction point in Kandahar, Afghanistan, while eluding the elite special forces hunting them.
Butler collaborates with his Angel Has Fallen director Ric Roman Waugh. Waugh a pervious stuntmen made the extremely successful Angel has fallen.
However in this film he is more than just a Director and has written the film himself along with military intelligence officer Mitchell LaFortune.
The film is produced by Basil Iwanyk the guy who produced the John Wick Franchise along with Sicario one and two and G base butler’s production company.
Kandahar marks a reunion for Butler, Waugh, and Iwanyk, who most recently teamed on STX’s upcoming thriller Greenland, set for a wide theatrical release this summer.
Producer Iwanyk was heard saying to a daily that It was rare to find the combination of such undeniable talent like they have on Kandahar with Gerard and Ric and that the film is an amazing action script.
