FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: Japanese Manga by Warner Bros

Japanese Manga is a popular genre, they are comics created in the Japanese language, conforming to a style developed in Japan in the late 19th century. They have a long and complex history in earlier Japanese art.

Fullmetal Alchemist is an upcoming Japanese fantasy action adventure film based on the award-winning manga series of the same name by Hiromu Arakawa. the film is directed by Fumihiko Sori, and starring Ryosuke Yamada, Tsubasa Honda and Dean Fujioka. The film is scheduled for release in Japan by  film giant, Warner Bros. Pictures, in December 2017.

Considering Hollywood’s numerous disasters in the past such as “Dragonball Evolution”,”Speed Racer”, and “Ghost in the Shell”, anime fans nowadays tend to cringe whenever a Hollywood studio is attached to developing a live-action version of a Japanese anime. The majority of the followers of anime/manga are devoted fans who would prefer film studios to be as faithful to the source material as possible.

The plot of Fullmetal Alchemist takes place at the beginning of the 20th century. The plot features brothers Edward (Ryosuke Yamada) and Alphonse Elric who, after attempting the forbidden technique of human transmutation, suffer the consequences. Alphonse loses his entire body while Edward loses his left leg. Edward then sacrifices his right arm to save his brother’s soul by attaching it to a metal suit of armor. Edward is then given mechanical prosthetic known as “automail” in place of his missing arm and leg. Upon acceptance into the State Alchemists, he is given the nickname Fullmetal Alchemist, all while searching with Alphonse for the legendary philosopher’s stone that will repair their bodies.

Fascinating!
