Review of Den of Thieves

So the highly anticipated Den Of thieves has finally opened. Does it live up to the hype and Join the Elite list of Gritty Action films like Street Kings, Brooklyn’s finest and Swat to name a few  let’s find out.

Nick O’Brien is the hard-drinking leader of the Regulators, an elite unit of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Ray Merrimen is the recently paroled leader of the Outlaws, a gang of ex-military men who use their expertise and tactical skills to evade the law. O’Brien, Merrimen and their crews soon find themselves on a direct collision course as the criminals hatch an elaborate plan for a seemingly impossible heist — the city’s Federal Reserve Bank. DO the Rob the Bank and get away from the greatest heist ever or can big nick and his crew Stop them .
To Start with Den Of thieves is not an Action film . It’s Drama that’s based around a tough environment. The entire marketing of the film makes you believe that the film is a gritty Action tale with Cool Characters. Sadly for all Action fan’s this film is a Major disappointment it’s a bad mix of Street Kings meets a very shabbily done ocean’s 11. The Story takes you through the most boring Journey of A cop and a criminal not a moment in the film is engaging apart for the final and only gun fight.
Written and Directed by Christian Gudegast who has apparently written additionally for the highly engaging London has fallen along with the Super talented creighton rothenberger and katrin benedikt he fails to keep you engaged at any moment . I wonder what his contribution on London has Fallen was and who actually did the writing there. Coming to the direction Gudegast fails to evoke a single scene where you feel for any Character his direction and pacing is a big big let down.
Coming to the Action Aden Stay really can’t do anything much as nothing is there to do. The one gun fight is averagely entertaining, Though Long takes pull you away from the Action . A gun fight has to always be a 2 way composition cut simultaneously however this film lacks that.
Gerard Butler manages to play is part with great conviction for a person who’s performing phenomenally well  in the Action Genre this will be a big big let down for all his fans , he needs to get back to doing his Hardcore commercial Action films like Olympus has Fallen if he wants to keep his Action Star Status.  . 50 curtis cent plays his part well and so does Pablo Schreiber  someone who really stands out is O SHea Jackson Jr he’s a person to watchout for.
On the whole Den of Thieves is a highly confused film for the makers perspective . It’s no where near a  Swat or A Brooklyn’s finest or Street Kings. It looks like they started out to make an Action film then decided to make a hiest film then change the narrative and make it Character driven like logan  . In an attempt to cater to everyone they end up catering to no one. London has fallen did 200 million world wide . It will be a miracle if this crosses 60.
We at amdb.in wish the entire team all the very best.
