If your a fan of MMA or Back Yard Brawls you have had to have heard of Kimbo Slice. The guy was famous for Back Yard Brawls and soon that got him a shot in the UFC. However it was soon evident that Kimbo was not cut out for MMA however he was and still remains the king of Back Yard Brawls so famous was he that he is going to get his biopic on screen and the film has attracted some big talent.
Winston Duke, who recently broke out as T’Challa’s ally M’Baku in Marvel’s multi-billion dollar grossing Black Panther and is taking on the role of MMA legend Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson in Backyard Legend.
The film is about a Bahamian-born backyard brawler who rose from homelessness to mixed martial arts fame after his brutal backyard fights drew a huge YouTube audience.
The film is written by White Boy Rick writer Andy Weiss . Dukes was heard saying that he was looking forward to exploring Kimbo’s story and interrogating the expectations society places on men like him.
Kimbo Slice died suddenly in June 2016 at 42 from heart failure and a liver mass. The film is a tribute to all of his accomplishments and is being produced by Steve Lee Jones’ Bee Holder Productions and Michael J. Weiss’ Webros Entertainment
