Mark Gill the right hand of Legendary Action film producer Avi Lerner and once the President of Millennium films was instrumental in putting together films the Expendables london has fallen .
It came as a shocker when Gill decided to part ways with Millennium films , however the trade was excited to see where he will set shop up next and now we know.
Mark Gill, Andrew Gunn, Guy Botham and Vincent Bruzzese have teamed to launch Solstice Studios, a Los Angeles-based theatrical producer and distributor that will focus on mid-budget action hybrid movies for wide release.
The company has raised a whopping $400 million in capital that including $160M investment via Ingenious Media. The new studio will fully financing, producing, developing, selling internationally and distributing action feature films in the U.S. on a wide-release basis similar to the model of Millennium.
They plan to produce 5 films a year to start all budgeted between 30 to 60 million USD and acquire another 4 titles for distribution .
Solstice will target movies with global appeal, primarily in the action, thriller and action-comedy space which makes sense considering the success he has had at Millennium.
In the acquisitions area, the company will again look for films that merits a wide U.S. release that area is again only action thriller , action science fiction action horror .
Solstice Studios is expected to grow to 65 people in the first year it’s self. The combination of all the people together be it Andrew Gunn and Guy Botham makes that a completely horizontally integrated company as Botham who will serve as co-head of production with Gunn, is a leading VFX entrepreneur of 15 years. His credits include Wonder Woman, Avatar.
Wide releases have drastically dropped and only 2 majors control the wide market , through the demand is there the supply is low . This seems like a perfect time for Solstice to make an entry in a supply hungry market.
We at amdb.in wish the entire team all the very best.
