American film market has always been the top market for buyers in the entertainment business. Last year Action dominated in Sales and this year is no different.
The highest sales were of Action films and they were the first to be sold out. The highest sales were of George Millar’s Three thousand years of Longing an Action romantic SIFI film.
The film is a sell out with Latin America (IDC), Spain (DeA Planeta and Tri Pictures), CIS (Volgafilm), Scandinavia (Nordisk Films), Japan (Kino Films), Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania (Prorom Media) and South Korea (The Coup).
Also sold are Poland (Monolith), Ex Yugoslavia (Blitz), Greece (Tanweer), Iceland (Sam Films), Israel (Lev Cinemas), Middle East, Turkey (Italia Films), Portugal (Nos Lusomundo), Switzerland (Ascot Elite), Hong Kong (Golden Scene), India (PVR Pictures), Malaysia, Philippines (Square Box), Singapore (Shaw Renters), Taiwan (Moviecloud), Vietnam (Blue Lantern), Pan Asia TV (Fox Network Group) and South Africa (Filmfinity).

The Asset – Michael Keaton, Samuel L Jackson and Maggie Q lead the cast of this thriller from The Foreigner and Casino Royale director Martin Campbell and The Expendables outfit Millennium Media, which is handling sales. Movie follows two of the world’s premier assassins who share a mysterious past from Vietnam.
The Plane – Genre mainstay Gerard Butler is leading this elevated thriller about a commercial pilot who lands his storm-damaged aircraft in a war zone and must protect its passengers from multiple militia. MadRiver International is handling sales, CAA is on domestic.
Leo From Toledo – Mel Gibson and Frank Grillo star in Joe Carnahan’s thriller about a former Kansas City mob hitman who comes out of witness protection to protect his estranged daughter and granddaughter. MadRiver International is on international sales, CAA is repping domestic.
Inferno – Taylor Kitsch will play a cop who is called to investigate a seemingly ordinary murder in the New Mexico desert but stumbles upon something bigger in Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi thriller. AGC Studios is on sales, with CAA co-repping domestic and China rights.
Hypnotic – Robert Rodriguez is helming this big budget action thriller about a detective who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program, while investigating a string of impossible high-end heists. Studio 8 and Solstice Studios will produce the film under a new strategic partnership, with Solstice spearheading U.S. distribution and international sales.
Cash Truck – Action flicks are usually buzzy fare at AFM and this is an exciting one. Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham are re-teaming on this thriller about a man responsible for moving hundreds of millions of dollars around Los Angeles each week. Also starring are Scott Eastwood and Holy McCallany. Miramax CEO Bill Block and Ivan Atkinson are producing the project and the company is handling sales at AFM.
These films are sold out at the festival , the demand for them have been exceedingly good. This only goes to show the power of Action.
