In this Day and age every movie is being moved to 2021 as this year seems to be un predictable for the film industry and latest to add to the list is Sony’s Venom 2.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (as it’s known now) is no longer opening on Oct. 2 this year, rather June 25, 2021 ( as of now)
The news comes in the wake of Warner Bros. announcing yesterday that their Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Patterson is no longer opening on June 25 date next year, but Oct. 1, 2021.
SO that makes Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage the only wide entry currently scheduled on its new date but it might be joined by another film.
This is also the first time we’re hearing about the title for the Andy Serkis directed sequel.
Tom Hardy is reprising his role as Eddie Brock aka Venom. Woody Harrelson, as the end of the first movie indicated, is playing the new supervillain Carnage.
The news has not left exhibitors happy as they pose to lose even more than this year. As of now Warner Bros.’ Tenet and Disney’s Mulan are set to hit theaters in July.
Mulan which happens to be Disney’s big ticket in China has taken An exceptional hit as it was supposed to to exceptional numbers.
Venom , opened during the first weekend of the fall month to $80.2M, along with a domestic and WW take of $213.5M and $856M world wide.
