The original was made by DreamWorks and distributed by Universal however the Sequel will be set up at Paramount where Jim Gianoplolis is now leading the Charge as Studio Head. Mr. Gianopolis has worked with Riddley Scott on the Alien Franchise and like James Cameron is a dear friend of Scott’s.
Gladiator 2 will follow the continuing story of Lucius, the son of Lucilla , The boy was the nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), the weaselly son of Roman leader Marcus Aurelius who murdered his father seized the throne. The boy who’s fascinated with Gladiators wound up in the gladiator ring with Maximus, who though mortally wounded, Killed Commodus before dying.
Maximus saved the boy and his mother while avenging his own family, and left a strong impression on the young Lucius.
Riddley Scott’s Scott Free Entertainment will produce the film . As of now no news on the casting has been announced but as per our sources Thor aka Chris Hemsworth is all set to play the Part .
